Tamara Harrison, LMFT #161088
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California
Holistic, Compassionate Therapy for Individuals and Couples

About

I believe healing happens when we care for the whole person, not just the symptoms that bring someone to therapy. My approach is grounded in the understanding that our thoughts, emotions, relationships, physical health, and beliefs are all deeply connected.
I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor with more than 15 years of experience in psychotherapy, assessment, and consultation across hospitals, community mental health centers, universities, and private practice. My training includes a joint doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at UC San Diego / San Diego State University, and a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Cal State East Bay. I've presented research at national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.
I work especially well with high-achieving adults, couples, neurodivergent clients (ADHD, autism), and those navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, or the impact of a narcissistic parent. Wherever you're starting from, my goal is a warm, collaborative space where you feel heard and supported. I serve clients across all of California.
What I Offer

I work with individuals and couples on: anxiety, trauma and PTSD, relationship and family issues, grief and loss, identity and LGBTQ+ issues, and infertility, with a growing specialization in women's and couples' reproductive mental health.
My approach draws on CBT, DBT, ACT, person-centered and strengths-based therapy, relational and psychodynamic work, Emotionally Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, Family Systems, Internal Family Systems, and Gestalt therapy, tailored to what each client needs.
